I get this question a lot. A little while back I talked about why your twenties are such a good time to start investing in your skin, and I got so many replies from people in their thirties asking the same thing: okay, but what about now? So let’s talk about skincare in your 30s, because this decade is genuinely one of the most interesting and important windows for your skin, and I think it deserves its own honest conversation.
What Actually Changes in Your Skin in Your 30s
Here’s the thing about skincare in your 30s: you’re not in pure prevention mode anymore, but you’re also not necessarily dealing with major concerns yet either. You’re somewhere in between, and that in-between space is actually where the most important decisions get made. The habits and treatments you build right now have a compounding effect, which means a little intentional effort in your thirties goes a really long way.
So what’s actually shifting? The biggest thing is collagen. Collagen production starts declining gradually from your mid-twenties onward, but your thirties are typically when you start to actually see and feel those effects. You might notice the first fine lines appearing around your eyes or mouth. Your skin might feel like it has a little less bounce and elasticity than it used to. You might notice it taking longer to recover from things like a run of late nights, a stressful week, or a bout of hormonal breakouts. None of this is alarming, it’s just your skin entering a new phase, and the good news is there is so much we can do to support it.
Elastin also starts to shift in this decade. Elastin is what gives your skin its ability to snap back, and as it gradually decreases you might notice skin feeling slightly less firm around the jawline or under the eyes. Again, we’re not talking dramatic changes at this point. But we are talking about changes that are worth paying attention to, because this is exactly the moment when the right treatments can make a meaningful difference.
The Skin Treatments Worth Prioritizing in Your 30s

This is the decade where I really start recommending consistent collagen-stimulating treatments, and I want to explain why timing matters here. When you stimulate collagen production in your thirties, you’re working with a skin foundation that is still relatively strong. You’re adding to what’s already there rather than trying to rebuild from a deficit. That distinction matters a lot for results.
Here are the treatments I find myself recommending most often for clients in this decade.
BioRePeel. This is one of my absolute favorites for the thirties, and if you haven’t heard of it yet, let me introduce you. BioRePeel is a next-generation chemical peel that resurfaces, brightens, and stimulates collagen with virtually zero downtime. I mean it when I say virtually no downtime: most clients go right back to their normal lives after a session. For someone in their thirties who is busy and doesn’t have a week to hide at home after a treatment, this is a game changer. It addresses texture, tone, early fine lines, and overall radiance, and it works beautifully as a regular maintenance treatment.
Microneedling. If BioRePeel is the accessible everyday hero of the thirties, microneedling is the deeper investment. Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, which triggers your body’s natural wound healing response and produces a surge of collagen and elastin exactly where your skin needs it. The results build over a series of sessions and include smoother texture, improved tone, reduced fine lines, and noticeably better overall skin quality. This is the collagen and elastin boost your skin is quite literally asking for in this decade, and starting a consistent microneedling series in your thirties is one of the smartest long-term investments you can make in your skin.
Chemical peels. A well-chosen chemical peel in your thirties can address uneven tone, texture, and early pigmentation while also encouraging cell turnover that naturally starts to slow down in this decade. Paired with BioRePeel or microneedling as part of a broader treatment plan, peels can be a really effective tool for keeping skin looking fresh and even.
Regular facials. I’ll always advocate for a consistent facial routine, and your thirties are a great time to get intentional about it if you haven’t already. A signature facial is a wonderful place to start if you’re not sure where your skin is right now. It gives us the chance to really assess what’s going on, talk through your concerns, and figure out what combination of treatments is going to serve you best going forward.
What to Focus On at Home
Treatments are only part of the picture. What you’re doing at home in your thirties matters more than ever, and I want to be straightforward about where to focus your energy.
Sun protection is the single most important thing you can do for your skin right now, full stop. The visible damage that tends to show up in your forties and beyond, the hyperpigmentation, the deeper lines, the loss of firmness, is very often a direct result of cumulative sun exposure that happened years earlier. The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends wearing a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every single day, and I genuinely mean every day, not just beach days or sunny days. This is the habit that protects everything else you’re doing.
Antioxidants are your other best friend in this decade. A good vitamin C serum in the morning helps neutralize free radical damage, supports collagen synthesis, and brightens tone over time. The American Academy of Dermatology highlights antioxidants as a key part of a proactive anti-aging skincare routine, and I completely agree. If you’re not using one yet, your thirties are the time to start.
Beyond that, focus on keeping your skin barrier healthy and well hydrated. A good moisturizer, gentle cleansing, and not over-stripping your skin with too many active ingredients all matter here. Your skin in your thirties is resilient but it does respond to how well you take care of it day to day.
Your 30s Are a Skincare Opportunity, Not a Problem to Solve
I want to leave you with this reframe, because I think a lot of people come to their thirties feeling like they’re already behind or like they’re suddenly in damage control mode. You’re not. Your thirties are actually one of the best times to invest in your skin, precisely because you still have such a strong foundation to work with.
The collagen is still there. The elasticity is still there. Your skin is still responding beautifully to the right treatments and habits. What you build in this decade will absolutely show up as a difference in how your skin looks and feels ten and twenty years from now.
If you’re in your thirties and not sure where to start, I would love to help you build a plan that actually makes sense for where your skin is right now. Book your appointment and let’s figure it out together. Your future skin is going to thank you. 🤍
